How do I become a member?
There are two ways to become a member of GWWN and NAFE. 

  1. Join on line. Click on “Join” on the home page or go to the membership menu and click on Join. Complete the application on line.  Select the type of payment. For example, to join GWWN and NAFE at the same time, select the $79.00 payment and complete the process.
  2. You may complete the on line application electronically or download the Word document, and mail your check or money order to:  GWWN, P.O. Box 65532, Washington, DC 20035.

Are there honorary memberships?
No, you have to follow the regular membership process to join.

Do all members live in DC metropolitan area?
No, you may join if you live outside of this area.

What is the membership fee?
The member fee is $79.00 for both GWWN ($40.00) and NAFE ($39.00).

How does the membership fee cycle run?
The member fee is yearly beginning at the time you joined.

Are renewal issued?
Yes, renewals are issued.  Each member is given a three months grace period for renewal before the membership lapse.  In order to be in good standing and receive all of the membership benefits, it is best to keep your membership current.

What types of women join GWWN?
The organization consists of a diverse group of dynamic women from all nationality, cultural backgrounds and professions. There are a few male members who support our cause.

Am I required to join GWWN and NAFE at the same time?
Yes, it is NAFE’s policy that members, who join GWWN, also join NAFE at the same time.  GWWN processes the application. One application used for both organizations.  If you are unable to join at the same it, you must become a member of NAFE within 6 months of joining GWWN. 

If I am a NAFE member, do I need to pay a local membership fee to join GWWN?
Yes, NAFE recommended that you join your local chapter. Both organizations provide great benefits to members.  If you do not join GWWN you will get a lesser discount on events activities.

When will I receive my membership package?
GWWN membership package is mailed within two weeks upon receipt of the application with payment.  NAFE identification package is usually mailed six to eight weeks after joining.  If you joined NAFE through GWWN and do not received your NAFE membership identification package within the designated time period, please contact us.

How do I use the NAFE identification number?
Your NAFE identification number is used to log into the member pages on their web site. Use it for registration at NAFE and GWWN events and to renew your membership fee.

What do you offer candidates who are interested in joining, but whose financial resources are limited?
Although at the present time GWWN does not offer any event scholarships, there is a sponsorship fund raiser and community service project that prospective candidates can participate in.  This program is designed for the individual who is serious about joining.

Do you have monthly events?
Monthly events are held from September through June on the second Thursday of each month. 

Do the events consist of a program with topics?
Yes, most of the events consist of educational topics for career, business and personal development.  Please see our program calendar for topics.

What types of speakers are recruited for the events?
Professional speakers with experience on the event topics.

Are speakers paid?
No, our speakers provide pro bono service.  The speakers’ benefits are exposure on our web site and printed literature.  This is their opportunity to give back to the community.

Do members speak at the events?
The member spotlight is designed for members to share their business and venture. 
Members interested in being a member spotlight for a month must be in good standing and are required to submit a request and adhere to the criteria.  For additional information, click on member spotlight in the membership menu.

Where are monthly events held?
Monthly events are held at the Robert Half International and OfficeTeam, 1201 F Street NW, Washington, DC 20004.

Does GWWN accept donations?
Yes, GWWN accepts monetary gifts, in-kind gifts and the gift of service by volunteering time.  Click on Donation on the home page for additional information. Donations are accepted on line or mail your check or money order to: GWWN, P.O. Box 65532, Washington, DC 20035.  They are tax deductible.

I would like to serve on a committee, what are the requirements?
For best results, we recommend that you join the organization to serve on a committee. However, we do have professional and intern volunteers who are not members who are providing services to the organization.  These people are making a difference. To serve on a committee, submit your request of interest to our email address at GWWeNet@tgwwn.org, subject line: Committee Interest. We will send you the volunteer criteria. Once the criteria are met you will be selected to serve on a committee.

Does GWWN have paid intern positions?
No, there are not any paid positions at the present time. All GWWN’s positions are unpaid.  The experience is very rewarding, counts as paid experience and enhances one’s credentials.

Are elections held for the board positions?
Yes, elections are held yearly for the board positions.  Members must be in good standing to vote.

Are all members required to get involved in the organization?
Members’ involvement is recommended. GWWN is a nonprofit organization operated by members who volunteer to advance and promote their business, career and interest while helping others to achieve their goals. Members who do not get involved in committee activities provide assistance whenever time permits and/or monetary gifts.

How are members recognized?
Members are recognized in many ways such as the Leadership and Recognition Award Program, birthday announcements, at monthly events, via the GWWeNet and through other benefits of GWWN.

How do I become a member spotlight?
Members interested in being a member spotlight for a month must be in good standing and are required to submit a request and adhere to the criteria.  For additional information, you may click on member spotlight in the membership menu.

Do the events allow for networking and opportunities to share business ideas and ventures?
Yes, you will have an opportunity to connect with other dynamic women sharing ideas and ventures.
